The demand for a skilled cyber security workforce is growing, but the nation's current supply of cyber security professionals is just not keeping up. In fact, the gap in supply and demand has been worsening. And by 2022, researchers predict there will be a shortage of 1.8 million workers in the information security sector. The current shortfall is already affecting businesses across the country – no matter what size or in which city – as they face increased risks from hackers, malware, and other cyber security threats. In particular, Denver has recently been a cyber security hotspot for university students as Regis University hosted the Rocky Mountain Collegiate Cyber Defense Competition in early March.
